On the first Monday following their election, the new government held a meeting in 10 Downing Street chair by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for regional mayors across England.
The government said this was to "begin the process of shifting power out of Westminster through a major programme of devolution that will power up all corners of the country." A few days before, the new Prime Minister had used his second speech from Number 10 to say his "fundamental belief is that those with skin in the game are the ones who know best what they need."
This public commitment, coupled with the subsequent Devolution White Paper, means that many public affairs practitioners find themselves tasked with devising strategic influencing plans for England's Combined Authorities. For many, this is the first time they've been asked to think about influencing beyond Whitehall.
Join the CIPR Public Affairs Group and a panel of experts to find out how to influence Metro Mayors effectively in the coming months and years. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions via a Q&A towards the end of the webinar.
