Ethics and AI in the education and skills sector

Ethics and AI in the education and skills sector

The rapid spread of AI (artificial intelligence) throughout society has raised a number of alarm bells amidst all the opportunities. Whilst many in the public relations profession see its potential as a business asset, others are voicing serious concerns. These include issues over data, algorithms, privacy, plagiarism and fake news. The need to focus on ethics is crucial as every mistake we as PR professionals make will be amplified in the big data universe in which we now live.

Join Professor Anne Gregory and Stuart Bruce for a lively discussion on the implications of AI for PR professionals working in the education and skills sector on Wednesday 17 July from 12pm to 1pm. For further information read the CIPR’s AIinPR Ethics Guide. Link here.

Anne Gregory PhD is Professor Emeritus of Corporate Communication at the University of Huddersfield. She is also a past president of the CIPR and member of the #AIinPR panel having co-authored three major research reports. Anne runs her own consultancy and training company Practix Ltd with clients in the UK, Europe and Asia. She has been a non-executive director of three NHS Trusts, sits on the advisory board of a major research company and is a reviewer of Government Communication Departments.

Stuart Bruce is recognised internationally as a thinker and doer on the future of public relations, communications and corporate affairs. He is the co-founder and joint MD of Purposeful Relations, the digital transformation consultancy for the PR and communications industry, which advises businesses, governments and organisations around the world. Stuart is a former board director of the CIPR and has also served on the board of charities and community interest companies.
