ESG Governance for Communication Leaders

ESG Governance for Communication Leaders

ESG Governance for Communication Leaders

Course Objectives

This course moves communications leaders upstream in the ESG process, from last-minute wordsmiths to strategic influencers inside the governance structures where ESG decisions are made. It demystifies how ESG is owned and signed off, giving comms professionals the frameworks to influence strategy, flag reputational risks early and prevent undeliverable commitments.

Who Should Attend

Intended for Senior Comms Executives, Corporate Affairs Leaders and Heads of Reputation who want greater influence over ESG strategy rather than just its output. Particularly relevant for anyone struggling to get Legal, Risk or Sustainability teams to recognise the reputational dimension of disclosure, and senior consultants advising clients.

What to Expect

The course takes participants "under the hood" of ESG governance. Sessions cover mapping internal ESG ownership across the Board and committees, using materiality assessments to direct comms resources, designing a workable sign-off process, separating data from narrative ownership, and building an early-warning system for emerging ESG issues.

Course Outcome

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of where communications fits within the ESG governance landscape. They will gain a practical 90-day toolkit of templates, checklists and process maps, plus the strategic vocabulary to engage credibly with Legal, Risk and Sustainability colleagues and help shape ESG strategy from the outset.
